October Session Dates and Information

Hi everyone,

I have finally had the chance to sit down and finalise my schedule for October only.

Unfortunately my trusty babysitters decided that going on a cruise during September was much more exciting PLUS I am also flying to Sydney for a mini holiday myself - therefore I am unable to take any bookings during this month. I am, however, extending the Spring Special to also run during November to make up for this. November dates will be announced shortly.

Because I will still be breastfeeding my little one during these months I will be unable to travel outside of my local area - Werribee, Point Cook, Williamstown and surrounding suburbs. There are some fantastic locations that I use in these local areas.

I can also offer indoor sessions in my home studio.

Sessions will need to be confirmed at the time of booking and payment will need to be received 3 days after confirmation. Once you have paid your booking fee further session information will be forwarded.

Please note, booking fees are non-refundable but are transferable (conditions apply).

OK, so here are the dates for October:

3rd October:
- 8am
- 4pm BOOKED!

17th October - BOOKED OUT!

31st October - 8am or 4pm

On other news I have added some new items to my Collections as well as introducing a combined Maternity and Newborn session structure.

Booking, product and pricing information can be found at:

Chrissy Torney Photography aims to create Photographic Artwork therefore all products are designed to be immediately displayed on your walls or coffee table. Please let me know if there is any further information you may require.

I look forward to hearing from you :)

It's question time!

I thought I would take this opportunity during my down time to answer any questions you may have been wanting to ask of me and my work. You can either email your questions to chrissytorney@hotmail.com or ask your question in the comments box.
I will endevour to answer them over the coming week.
And of course...what would my blog be without a photo. You wouldnt believe the time and effort it has taken to capture my two children together at the same time, not to mention the snake lolly bribes! I won't mention how long it has actually taken me to post this either!

Take care,
Chrissy xo

To be young again!

Now - not to Mummy Brag or anything, but my Paigey Girl is rather clever and we sometimes forget that she is not yet even three years old.
I took these photos 2-3 months ago and forgot about them. It was nice to find them and have a play!
I love them as they remind me that my Paigey is still a little, cheeky monster and I hope she stays this way for a lot longer.

Congratulations!!

A huge, belated congratulations to Brad and Emma on the birth of their beautiful twins. You may remember I did Emma's maternity session right before going on maternity leave myself. My lovely friend and most excellent photographer Kristen (who did my maternity session) had the honour of photographing their beautiful newborn babies and you can check out the sneak peek of this session here:

Where has the time gone...

Firstly - I apologise for being MIA - having a newborn and toddler at home has meant zero time for blogging.
Koby is now 4 weeks old and I can't remember him not being here or what life was like with a singelton.
I have been too busy or too tired to even get the camera out lately...so you will all just have to bare with me and put up with some old photos of Paigey for now. Hopefully I will get a boost of photog-mojo later on this week, so check back!
Take care!

Family of Four - An update from me.

On Monday, 6th July 2009 I gave birth to my super special little guy Koby, one week before my due date. It was a very short labour of approximately 49 minutes from start to finish. 15 - 20 minutes of this time was spent in the car travelling on the way to the hospital - my waters broke with a contraction in the hallway of the hospital and I birthed him on a small consult bed in a monitoring room just around the corner. I was lucky a midwife was coming on shift at the time my waters broke. She pretty much half carried me, half pushed me into the consult room.
He is just perfect and we are all smitten.

{Flashback} - Skye and Toby 3rd July 2008

12 months ago - I was lent 2 beautiful children to use as models for my portfolio. We drove all over in my car and Skye was happy to jump in and out in the freezing cold to let me get some shots. It was so cold and windy that day - almost identical to the weather we have right now!
Boy how time flies - these are still to this day, some of my favourite images :)

A little Update from me...

Well, here I am a few days shy of 39 weeks, waiting ever so patiently for any sign that labour might be around the corner. I am a little emotional as the lead up to this little person's arrival has been overshadowed by the dreaded cold virus making it's way through us all making us feel a little run down and miserable during this time of excitement and expectation. My Mum and her partner arrived last week, and whilst it's been difficult to hand over control, I am thankful for the sleep, dinners and immaculate house.
I must admit, I am really missing my client sessions at the moment. I am missing the creativity, the interaction with beautiful children and families and the joy I get from presenting beautiful images to people. So...until this little one arrives I am going to simply have to be content with splashing images of myself on to the net as well as going back through the last 12 months and sharing some of my favourite client images.
For now...here was my latest belly photo taken at 37 weeks. The photo actually makes my really large and heavy belly look so small.

Sneak Peek Mrs & Mrs W - Soon to be a family of 4!

Well, the time finally came - my last session before hanging up the camera until I give birth and what a better way to end it with a maternity session for such a special couple!! You know it's been an awesome session when the clients haven't even made it out of your street and you are inside uploading their images!
Mrs W is carrying twins and looks georgous, although she did often make me wonder if I was holding my camera wonky, if she was standing wonky, or if the babies were just laying in a wonky position.
This couple were wonderful, up for anything and everything - so much fun to work with!! Mr W wins my 'best husband to photograph ever' award. Most husbands have that awkward, uncomfortable look when they rock up to their session...longing to be elsewhere, but Mr W was not only cooperative during his session, he was also a wonderful assistant. PLUS he can multi-task!! Do you think he resembles Blair from Neighbours as well?
OK all jokes aside, there is something really special about this couple. The eminate so much love for each other and are going to make the best parents to these special little miracles.

Here are a few teasers from today's session. There are so many more to come - stay tuned!

Newborn Cuddles - Miss E and Miss G {Melbourne Newborn Photographer}

*sigh* Cuddling these two today has made me ever so emotional and ready to have this baby wriggling around inside my own rather large tummy!
I popped over to my neighbour's home this morning, just to check in and make sure they were surviving the early days or parenthood ok. You know how it is in those first few weeks, time just slips by in a haze of nappies, feeds, cuddles, nappies, feeds and cuddles. Decision making is also very hard when you are in that place of sleep deprivation therefore I felt it was just time to go grab my camera and take some snaps of these two precious little girls before they turn 21.
Now, given my past experiences with newborns who don't want to sleep - there was NO WAY I was unwrapping these two little ones today! So here are a few quick snaps of the most adorable and much loved little Princesses!

Definately going to be the cheeky one!

Sneak Peek - Caroline {Melbourne Maternity Photographer)

You know the session is going to be *fun* when;
a) The photographer is 7 weeks further along in their pregnancy than the maternity client and is moving rather slowly.
b) Melbourne weather decides it's going to turn cold and miserable.
c) You realise once again you may need that step ladder!

For those of you who follow my blog, you may remember a beautiful maternity session I had with the lovely Megan http://http//chrissytorneyphotography.blogspot.com/2009/02/sneak-peek-megan-melbourne-maternity.html
Today I had the pleasure of photographing her sister Caroline who has this perfect teeny, tiny bump. Unfortunately timing of my own impending delivery meant I was unable to photograph Caroline when she was further along in her pregnancy but that doesn't mean she isn't glowing and georgous at only 29 weeks. Georgous blue eyes, curly hair and being TALL all run in the family!
Her session was originally booked for the Botanical Gardens, but it started to rain once I got there to set up, therefore we headed to our back up location of Caroline's Grandparent's home. As someone who lives in dry, dusty Werribee I was ever so envious of her Grandparent's lush green garden.
We were lucky enough to also have a visit from Megan and her georgous little bundle Emelia Rose. Megan and I made note of the extreme conditions between her 47+ degree day and Caroline's 9 degree day.
Caroline explained to me that her Grandparents were the original owners of their home and that the family had seen many changes in the area since it was built. The street is now welcoming home it's 4th generation of family members.
So after much huffing and puffing on my behalf here is a sneak peek from today's session.
Enjoy!
p.s. Look at this garden!!

Caroline - it was a pleasure meeting you today and thanks for the laughs. I will be in touch! Thank your Grandparents again for me and tell them anytime they want to come green up my yard, they are more than welcome!

OoOooh Look at all my Pretties!

OK, first day of Maternity Leave - I have finally managed to take some photos of my new products - however they were taken very, very quickly. You might consider my product photography a little lacking in style and creativity - let's just say I save that for my clients.
Chrissy Torney Photography will now be specialising in creating Photographic Artwork therefore all products sold in the future will come ready to display either mounted, matted or in an album.
Loose prints will only be available as part of my collections or when I run specials or promotions.

And so Maternity Leave officially begins...

So here I am, at the start of my official Maternity Leave from teaching and with only 2 sessions left to shoot I have a lot of time on my hands to go back through old work and find overlooked images like the one below.
This photo was taken of my little nieceypoo almost 12 months ago - she has the most piercing green eyes and just didn't want her photo taken...LOL
I think it's georgous!

Master H - {Melbourne Newborn Photographer}

WOW...I am so very lucky. I have many wonderful people in my life who support what I do and who are more than happy to lend me their children to photograph when I need them to.
Elissa first lent me her children back when I was building my portfolio. I am amazed that time has flown by so quickly - it's hard to believe that I took these first images below of Will and Grace almost 12 months ago now.

Today I had the pleasure of photographing the newest arrival to their family, Master Harry.

Thanks you Elissa for having me in your home today, especially after such a sleepless night. I look forward to watching your latest miracle grow.

Creating My Own Special Memories

I have never been one for girly-girl stuff - I rarely put makeup on, I rarely wear dresses or skirts and up until a few years ago I didn't even know what foils were. I grew up riding BMX bikes and playing in the dirt with my younger brothers. I avoided all the girly-girl hoohaa when I got married by eloping to beautiful Broome in WA - I wore a cheesecloth skirt and singlet tops and I had a go at tizzing myself up by attempting to do my own hair and makeup.
Having a daughter has really changed me. The girly-girl stuff has become somewhat important. I am beginning to enjoy this *stuff* with my little girl. She stands beside me in the bathroom applying her own 'makeups' whenever I do make the effort to spruce up a little. I do however think that Miss P has some of my tomboy personality, especially when she requests to wear her Thomas the Tank Engine PJ's to bed, or goes off to daycare with her Spiderman singlet on over the top of her pink shirt.
So, where is all this verbal diahorrea leading to? Well. At 37 and pregnant with my second child, I decided that I would embrace my feminine side, tizz myself up a bit and capture this special time in my life. I thought it was about time I did something girly for myself. I wanted to record somehow not only my final pregnancy but also the special bond I have with my georgous daughter. I decided to follow my own advice to other women and book my own photo shoot. There was only one person I considered for the job and that was the talented and georgous Kristen Cook.
Kristen's work speaks for itself - I admire and respect the talent and passion this lady has for what it is she does.
She simply 'exuberates fantastacism'!!
SO head on over the Kristen's blog: http://kristencook.com.au/blog/?p=1273 and check out the magic this lady has created for me!

Senior Photography - {Melbourne Teen Photographer}

I really enjoy shooting the older kids, mostly because they don't run away from me, but also because they are just as special at 17 as they are at 7!!
Booking a Senior Session is a wonderful way to document that momentous occasion of finishing High School.
Leaving High School commemorates that first step into 'real' adulthood and the transtion from Teenager into Adult. This is why booking a Senior Session is just as important as any other session. Why not capture this occasion in your teenager's life?
I am currently taking details for my waiting list for Sept/Oct - if you would like to book a Senior Session or know of someone who might, please don't hesitate to contact me so I can add your name to the list.
Packages start at $495

Some Oldies - Ms Jure {Melbourne Newborn Photographer}

I went back through some old files tonight and found these. I don't think I even edited them first time round.
I can honestly say I am amazed at my 'then' and 'nows'.
My how time flies though, this little one is crawling around all over the place now!
